I thought I would update you. I have had the bike for a little bit now and have gone 50 or so miles. I am enjoying it immensly so far.

My bike has a 16" front wheel. Art says it is a earlier model with a shorter wheelbase then the later ones. It handles well so far to me.

I rode with Art but he took his trike. He showed me some tricks to riding it and told me a little about the bike. He also adjusted it for me.

    I am please so far.

Hope to take a ride out of oak ridge that the wheelmen do every week, this saturday.
It is suppose to be an easy going ride so I think it will be a good one to get started.

Already dumped the bike once. Came to a slow gentle stop and put my foot down. Not sure what I slipped on but my foot slipped and I immediately went over. I was practically stopped anyway so it was really not a problem. It did move my handlebars so one was in the way of the seat. I turned it upside down and readjusted it.
It is tightned now so hopefully it will not slip.

Anyway most of the riding I have done so far is straight and relatively flat but I am getting a few miles in.

Hope to be riding with you guys on your next ride.

    Good riding to you
    Sally

    Hello ,
Thank you David for the information. I only have the parts for short wheel base and it has a 16" wheel in the front. So far so good. It is an older model but was hardly used. I am very excited to finally have one.
    Thanks
    Sally

Glad to hear your first time getting dumped was a low-speed no-harm, no-foul.

I have been razzed more than once for being an engineer. So have other engineers in our group. We are a misunderstood minority. In fact the Rocket Riders Term of Endearment for "engineer" is "engine-ear." As such, I am fascinated with numbers and statistics. I have logged on an Excel spreadsheet every mile I have ridden on my Rocket since beginning over 4 years ago. It comes in handy sometimes to look back and see where/who/how far I/we went on a given trip or during a given interval. Shows such things as:
Currently on a 3630 mile pace for 2007. Goal of 4000 miles is looking doubtful.
Have logged 450 separate rides of 5 miles or more since March 2003.
Only 65 rides were more than 35 miles (we're not exactly long distance riders...).
Longest single-day ride: 2006 Clarksville Century, 103 miles
Longest multi-day ride: 2006 Katy Trail & north end of Natchez Trace, 283 miles
    Currently averaging 10 miles/day and 303 miles/month in 2007.
Recently passed 10,000 miles and closing in quickly on 11,000.

Well, you get the idea. All you do is plug in your day's work and date. Comments can be added but not necessary. I can send you a copy of it and you can modify it for your own use if you'd like.

    Dave
