    uphill slow

Don't worry, a few years ago, I'd have said "see you at the end"...but after chemo and more than a year off a bent, I'll be just as slow as you. So we can chat all the way up the hill if you wish.

Don't bet on it. While I may not be the absolute slowest possible two wheeler out there, I can ride pretty slow.:wink9: (Hint: I've followed behind Mike & Laurie on the tandem Limo, while climbing Cave Hill.) Anyway, if I need to speed up, I do. If I need to slow down, I do...and YES, you'll see ME afterward.

Last time, we rode UP in groups of 3 or 4 I guess it was, but the further we rode the more separated we became. Still, we'd stop along the way and re-group, then head out again.

Meanwhile, even though some turned back earlier than others, we ALL rendezvoused back at the upper lot where we'd parked, sat on the wall, ate lunch, swapped lies, rode each others bikes around some, etc. :laugh9:

Weather's looking good, for a FINE RIDE tomorrow...

P.S. NOW would be a good time to review the profiles of other riders coming tomorrow, so you can put their cellphone numbers into your own cellphone!? :wink9: Don't know that they'll work 'up the river', as we'll all be w/o a paddle. :laugh9: Meanwhile, if you have an FRS radio tune it to Channel 2 and bring it along. :jiggy9:

Here's another good view of what the route looks like along the way typically, thanks to Dave's route he posted and Flickr photos from the area...

Had a GREAT time as well. The weather was absolutely P-E-R-F-E-C-T and the company was even better! :jiggy9: Took 4hrs to get all the way UP to the TN/NC State line, and about 1:20 to come back down. :outtahere: WEeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Most were gone by the time we got back to the Cherohala Visitor's center, but RichB, Tadpole and myself sat down for a much deserved sandwich-in-the-shade. :yes9:

Was great to put a few more faces with some names/handles, and I really enjoyed meeting everyone there today. Hopefully everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. :wink9:

Attached below, is an Elevation Profile of the ride for those curious about it. I never shut my Garmin 305 GPS off, so the flat-top towards the end is artificial as we sat for about 30 waiting on others to show up and resting for a bit, before heading back down. We started at 888' at the Cherohala Visitor's Center and the State Line was at 2637', for a total elevation gain of 1750 feet over 22 miles.

I will see about posting some of the pictures I took along the way tomorrow.

Oh yeah, the weather was outstanding and the group was a good group of folks. My bike was running well and my legs were feeling good. It truly was a good day to ride, everything was beautiful.Made me feel happy and good to be riding.

HOWEVER! My behind was not happy at all. The seat on my bike absolutely without a doubt is the MOST HORRID seat I have ever sat on for a recumbent!:mad9: Recumbents are supposed to be comfortable, not like the seat I had. :sad9: By the time I got to wildcat overlook, the first pull off from the visitors center my tail end was experiencing a drastic case of recumbutt, that changed quickly the further up the road I got...PAIN. Not to mention the embarrassment:embarrassed9: I was suffering. Ugh! Heck, the last time I did the Tellico ride I got as far as the little store, this time I got as far as the picnic area just past the falls and had to call it quits. Even the ride downhill was painful, I couldn't wait to get off of it. I never had to stop and walk due to not making the hills, I got off and walked to save my backside from turning to stone. I am still sore today:eek9: Looks like I'm going to have to change the seat to one of my Edge seats.

Echoing the sentiments - a GREAT ride! A nice group of folks, too.

I arrived from the west on the Cherahola Skyway and Tadpole even drove out to escort me in ;). You don't get that sort of welcome everywhere.

The weather was ideal, great scenery. It was nice to scout the Tellico River for future canoe adventures.

    When's the next one?

    The next one

What? The next group ride? Well, keep an eye on the board here, there is always a ride of some sort going on somewhere...I am thinking of getting one going for this weekend, my favorite: :jiggy9:River Road (aka Old Walland Hwy) it runs long the Little River here in Blount County. It is not an extrememely long ride, but it is fun and if we all go to tremont and back then it can be quite long. I'm going to try one of my EDGE seats this week first though, see if it turns out to be more comfortable than the current seat.

The Tellico is more suited for whitewater kayaks. I've done it. You don't want to go down the upper part in a canoe. There is some pretty solid Class 3 in a lot of areas.

Yes, it looks maybe Class 3/4 if it had a bit more water. Maybe we can do it together? I wouldn't want to paddle it the first time without knowledgeable company!
