If you want to quickly mark ALL messages as having been READ in a particular forum, there are two ways to do that. The first is,

If you are on the Main Forum Page and see the Blue vs. Orange buttton indicators to the left, you can mouse-over the button and you will see a message saying: "double-click this icon to mark this forum and its contents read"

Simply double-click on it and vBulletin will mark ALL messages as being read by you, and the indicator will change from Orange to Blue for that forum only.

    The second is,

If you are one level deeper and actually seeing a list of all the thread titles (some in bold, some not) you can click on the Forum Tools drop-down menu and select "Mark This Forum Read".(see screenprint)

That will also cause vBulletin to auto-update the colored buttons on the Main Forum Page.
