I've been enjoying the life out of my RANS V-rex that I bought used in September.
I drive 18-wheelers and find that the "flip-it" is the only way I could get it to fit in between the passenger seat and the dashboard after taking the seat off.
The set-up you describe above looks quite comfortable just as well and seems like it's able to hold more bells and whistles too.

On another note, I'll have to find another way to secure my cargo-rack to the seat-back down-tubes.
The consistent disassembly when taking it out/putting it back in the truck cab takes its toll.

Well I love it. But it is a personal preference thing. I took it to my bike shop to tune up and he thinks I am crazy having the handlebars set up that way. But to me the most comfortable neutral position for my arms was with my Wiz Wheelz USS trike. My arms were by my side and my elbows bents at 90 degrees with my hands gently resting on the shifters.

This set up gives me the same configuration. Plus, I have no tiller effect like the standard V Rex set up.

    To each their own!

I personally feel a setup like that will make me even more dangerous and maneuverable with the fixed-gear hipster crowd I tend to roll with:jiggy9:

That and I typically haul a 50 lb stereo system on the rear-rack on big rides.
