I am planning a Pacific Coast ride on my Bacchetta Giro 20 ATT. I have toured before with a RANS recumbent and BOB trailer, but want to use panniers this time. I'm looking at Radical Designs Banana side bags or 4 panniers with an rear rack and an Easy Reacher under seat rack. Has anyone toured with either of these combinations?

I have used the Radical Designs seatbags over the years and have been impressed with their durability, but that’s about the limit of my usage of their products. Hat's off to ya, if you're going unsupported. I've toured with a SAG vehicle before (carrying tents, etc), but never carrying everything myself. :surprised:

I've done credit card touring 3 times. I need a bed to sleep in at night!

"Credit card touring" - I LIKE it!
And today it might be even easier - "Google Pay Touring", don't even need a wallet or plastic :laugh9:

p.s. I have several bags I use regularly - the Bachetta Brain Box (you can see in my profile picture), a Lone Peak ultralight seat bag (similar in size and function to the Brain Box but lighter and a bit smaller), a Rans expandable briefcase (mentioned in my Rans Rocket review) and a pannier on my Vision LWB commute bike, which I think is terrific (probably my next review) Each has its merits "pending on the projected distance"...

I've done some self-supported touring, 4-10 days on my Azub SIX, using their low and high racks. Arkell recumbent bags on the low rack and Ortlieb bags on the high rack. With heavy, dense stuff in the Arkells and lighter, less-dense things in the Ortliebs, it was quite manageable. Radical Designs bags look good, too. I used an Easy Reacher rack on a previous bike. That really got the center of gravity low, which was great for handling

Thanks for all your input. I purchased a TerraCycle Easy Reacher under seat rack and will use Ortlieb Sport Roller bags under the seat with Ortlieb Back Roller bags on my existing rear rack. Going to get all yellow bags for visibility. It should look good with the yellow Bacchetta Giro frame. I'm training now and will ride from Seattle, WA, around the Olympic Peninsula, then South to San Francisco along the Adventure Cycling Pacific Coast Route in late August/September.
