The Tectus Enclosed Trike Is a True All-Weather Solution "For All Roads on the Planet" autoevolution

Mobility scooters are essentially utilitarian transporters, so whatever focus they have on aesthetics is minimal. It doesn't have to be that way, though, Canadian company Daymak says.

Introducing the Tectus mobility scooter, an electric three-wheeler with a fully enclosed cockpit, incredible versatility that allows for multi-functionality, and a styling that stands out. The Tectus is the True all-weather AWD mobility scooter for "all the roads on the planet," and it's available today.

    Sort of.

You can pre-order the Tectus today, so it's not yet available. Deliveries are scheduled for a tentative "2024," with the caveat that the maker is Daymak, a Canadian e-bike company with big plans to launch a new era of electrified mobility that includes, among other things… a flying car. Electric, of course.

In late 2020, Daymak announced the Avvenire lineup, which also includes the Tectus. "Avvenire" means "future" in Italian, and future-proof is exactly what these mobility solutions are: lightweight and entirely powered by electricity, they're fast, super-safe, super-smart, and super-convenient. They're also super-non-existent as of the time of press, if you'll allow the wording.

Avvenire includes six LEVs (lightweight electric vehicles) in total, each offered in a Deluxe and Ultimate trim, where the Deluxe is just a shameless euphemism for "basic," and the Ultimate is the ideal spec.

There's the all-terrain e-bike Terra, the fully enclosed recumbent e-bike Foras, the AWD mobility scooter Tectus, the fully enclosed AWD EV Aspero, the three-wheeler Spiritus, and the flying car Skyrider. A bit of something for everyone, as long as the budget allows it.

So far, Daymak has been focusing mostly on the development of Spiritus, described as the three-wheel car of the future (it can even mine crypto when parked, go figure!). Spiritus has a working prototype but is still nowhere close to production.

Now, they're giving us a look at Tectus, a mobility scooter like no other mobility scooter: completely enclosed and capable of handling whatever terrain you throw at it, it comes with a certain degree of modularity and plenty of tech.

Like the other Avvenire products, Tectus exists in the digital realm for now and has already blown past a planned May 2021 launch. Here's to hoping it makes it to actual production because the promises it makes would make the long wait worth it.

Power for this LEV comes from two motors, one in the front wheel and one moving the rear axle, totaling 2,000W and delivering a top speed of 32kph (20mph). You get full throttle mode and a reverse function, and a small cargo bay in the rear.

The battery is 2,400Wh for the Deluxe model and a 5,400Wh one for the Ultimate, promising a range of 160 km (99 miles). Daymak doesn't go into details here, so we're assuming this is the estimated range with a full payload. Seeing how the Tectus can haul cargo, nothing less would make sense.

Access inside is done by means of lowering the canopy, either manually or with remote unlocking. The Tectus has the same sleek, futuristic styling as all the other Avvenire LEVs, so it looks fancier than a standard mobility scooter.
