Free Adaptive Cycling Clinic Taking Place Tuesday at Wildwood Park OnFocus

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Spokes Fighting Strokes will be in Marshfield on Tuesday to share their mission and help seeking adaptive cycling assistance. The free Adaptive Cycling Clinic aims to empower individuals affected by strokes, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, or limb loss by providing them with an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of adaptive cycling.

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 18 at Wildwood Zoo in the Chicago Room. The clinic offers a chance for attendees to explore adaptive cycling and discover how it can positively impact their lives. The clinic is open to individuals of all ages and abilities, providing an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone to participate.

At the clinic, participants will have access to a large trailer equipped with approximately a dozen adaptive trikes. These specially designed trikes cater to a variety of needs, allowing attendees to find the perfect fit that suits their abilities. Expert staff will be present to provide guidance, support, and instruction, ensuring that participants can make the most of their experience and explore the full potential of adaptive cycling.

Spokes Fighting Strokes is a non-profit organization focused on helping those affected by a wide range of physical and mental disabilities on their journey to rehabilitation by utilizing recumbent trikes. Spokes Fighting Strokes has been touring the United States for four years, providing open recumbent trike riding clinics to stroke survivors, paraplegics, and those affected by neural degenerative diseases like M.S, Parkinson’s, & Alzheimer’s. This year, Dan’s Wisconsin leg of the tour will have two adaptive cycling clinics, both of which are free to attend and open to the public.

Dan Zimmerman suffered a life-altering stroke in 2005 caused by Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). Though recovery was difficult and took a long time, he is now able to do many things that were previously considered unattainable. Dan is now the founder of Spokes Fighting Strokes, a 501c organization, whose mission is to reach every stroke survivor and show them that recovery is possible! Through their Spokes Adaptive Cycling clinics in Arizona and Colorado, they help stroke survivors gain independence, ability, hope, and freedom.

Dan is now on his 2023 Spokes Summer Tour across the U.S, and he will be visiting the Wildwood Station in Marshfield on Tuesday, July 18th for the first clinic. The second clinic will take place later that week on Thursday, July 20th in Stevens Point. Both of these clinics ...
