Wow! I hope your ankle healed up alright and doesn't cause you anymore pain/discomfort.

I remember years ago when my parents were away for the weekend, I was out in the back yard and ran up our back steps to answer the phone in the house. As I cleared the top step, my big right toe hit it and I heard a crack. And it was wrong number to beat it all. I've always cracked my knuckles and toes when they get tight so I didn't think anything about it. I could still move it as normal and I didn't really feel any pain at the time.

S-t-i-l-l, I recall my dad saying if anything ever happened and we didn't go to the Emergency Room within 24hrs, the insurance might not pay for it.:nailbiter: Out of that obligation, I choose to go and have it checked out at the local ER. When I got there they took an x-ray and put me back out in the waiting room. A bit later an intern stepped out and called my name, so I answered as I got up...just as he looked at me and said you're the one with the broken toe? I thought :nono:, not me, r-e-a-l-l-y?! YEP, it was broken so I got nice flat wooden shoe to wear for six weeks while Co-Op'ing over over the Nuclear Plant. :injured:

Leg suck is not only a real thing, but it my expressed and semi-professional opinion that all trike manufacturers have an obligation to shout the danger in large print in every manual, flyer, instructions, and even a warning sticker on the trike frame. Further, dealers & shops should be required to discuss it before allowing a trike to leave the store.

It can be a life-changer and the difference between future cycling and watching the world go by with your crutches in tow. Like seat belts (whether you like them or not), some form of foot attachment to trike pedals should be, if not mandatory, at least no less standard equipment than a helmet. Maybe we should even post a permanent statement in the RRI base folder.

People will do, or not do, what they want. It's a free country and they have the God-given right to hurt themselves in a manner they deem appropriate. But I'd feel bad if it happened and we didn't apprise them of the lurking danger.

My opinion; feel free to make it your own. Rant over; next speaker.

    Dave,
It's such a serious injury if/when it does happen, I agree it merits some form of additional notice.:mmm: I'll see about setting up an annual reminder (via an on-screen popup) that warns users of such and references this other thread about such. :construction:

    :update:
I've added a brief notice about Leg-Suck, that users will now see on a semi-annual basis.

Also, I have made Glenn's Rehablitation (after Foot Suck) a sticky thread in the Health and Safety Forum now.

The bent forums are VERY good at letting new trikers know about LEG SUCK! We just got into trikes in Jan. 2018 and I read quite a few forums and Facebook pages on trikes and the thing that I was warned about the most, Leg Suck. Started with Power Straps but decided on "clip-in pedals and shoes" very quickly! Glad to see your "warnings" added to the site, it might just save a beginner from serious HURT! :)
