JoLynn and I headed to the 1st. annual Southeast Colorado Springs Bicycle Festival at the Armed Forces YMCA. This started to try to get more kids and parents, bicycling in the poorer Southeast area of Colorado Springs. The main sponsor was "Kids on Bikes", they set up "loaner bikes" for kids/parents to ride for free for the day, then Bicycle Colorado Springs put on a bicycle rodeo and riding course and then a Family/Community Ride. We rode over from Security to see what all was happening and ended up being asked to be mobile corner markers and ride helpers! We've done this kinda thing before so we agreed. The ride was only 3 miles from the YMCA to Wildflower Park and back on the Sand Creek Trail. After we got back, there was burgers/hot dogs and Popsicles for all, once you turned in your bike, you got a free pass to the YMCA swimming pool. Then we headed back home, stopped a Sonic and got a small Strawberry Ice Cream Slush, YUM. The make our way back to the barn! 15 miles total with some good uphill and a lot of highway and street riding. :)
