For any of those who aren't familiar with placing embedded LINKS into a post, there's several methods of how it can be done. I'll try and go over each of them, then you can just use whichever method you feel most comfortable with.

Once you save your message, XenForo will automatically render your text into an actual link just as seen below...

By far, the easiest method is to just simply type the URL in as text like this: www.recumbentriders.org

Secondly at the top of the editor box (found at the bottom of each page), there is an icon for adding a LINK to your post.(i.e. circled in red below) It's the little chain-Link icon, without the X on it...

    Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 11.01.40 PM.jpg
By clicking on that Chain-Link, a menu will pop up asking for the URL you would like to refer to…

    Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 10.20.39 PM.jpg

All you need to do then is simply type it into the blank, or paste it from your computer's clipboard…

    Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 10.24.09 PM.jpg

Once you click the Insert button, XenForo will create a clickable link wherever your cursor was sitting at before you clicked on the little Chain-Link icon. Just as seen below...

Another way to embed a LINK into a message you may prefer is to simply type your in message first, then go back and add a LINK into it. It's just as easy to do, and you may find it a bit more natural.

For instance, here is the text of my new message:

    Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 11.21.24 PM.jpg

Just go back and Select the TEXT you want to show as the embedded LINK (in this case the words: Hostel Shoppe), by placing your cursor over it holding down your left mouse key as you hi-light the text you want selected.

    Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 11.22.04 PM.jpg

As a result, the lettering you select will show up as being Hi-Lighted in a light blue color.

THAT is where the LINK will be pasted to.

Next, all you have to do is CLICK on the Chain-Link icon and paste -or- type in the web-address you want to LINK to…
    Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 11.26.56 PM.jpg

The result is shown below, with he LINK now embedded…

Have you ever visited the Hostel Shoppe before? It's a marvelous place to see.
Notice that the Hostel Shoppe wording is now rendered in a light-blue color, thus indicating it is a LINK to a website. While it says (and users will see) Hostel Shoppe, it actually LINKS to http://www.hostelshoppe.com behind the scenes. :wink9:

Finally, if you will position your mouse cursor over the blue Hostel Shoppe wording just above, you can also notice a slight shadow-box effect that also helps indicate there is an embedded link attached to that particular wording.

Just hitting the LINK icon and typing in google's webaddress could give you http://www.google.com/

But you can always alter the Text to Appear as the LINK to whatever you'd like, such as This is the Google Search Engine LINK

NOTE: In the upper right hand corner of the Text EDITOR, you will see a small sheet of paper and a wrench symbol…
    Screen Shot 2015-12-13 at 12.18.35 AM.jpg

By clicking on the symbol, you can use the BBCode Editor to see all the details of this code I'm referring to whenever you're creating or editing a message.

You can't really mess anything up by playing around with the CODE, but your msg may look a bit funny if you lose a set of Brackets (called Tags) in the process.

In essence, ALL specialized coding is contained within a pair of brackets, or Tags. If you are using the BBCode Editor and accidentally delete part of the Leading -or- Trailing set of Tags then your resulting text may look a little bit weird. XenForo will automatically attempt to close-all-tags that have been used in the message, so most often no syntax errors will occur.

For instance, this text is bold because it has a leading Tag that declares BOLD (i.e. [ B ]) and a trailing Tag (i.e. set of brackets [ /B ]) that complete that command. You can see the screenshot below for the actual CODE that's normally hidden from view. Note: What's below is seen only when using the BBCode Editor.

    Screen Shot 2015-12-13 at 12.26.16 AM.jpg

If you remove the trailing Tag for instance, XenForo will render it as this instead...
For instance, this text is bold
Note what happened: ALL this text is now in bold lettering since XenForo added a closing Bold Tag (i.e. [ /B ]) to the end of the message!
