I saw the show in Prague and they had a very nice recumbent bike, but I'm worried, does anyone have experience with shopping, what about transportation? thanks :wink9:

no one has experience? it is a recumbent bike from frontbike.cz . Transport price of the frame is just £ 69 which is not so bad, but I'm afraid to buy from abroad, and recumbent on eBay are too expensive, any advice?

    Hi Thomas,

Most members of this forum are from the US. We get most of our bents from the US, England, Germany, Holland and Australia. US manufacturers sell the most here by far. I didn't even know Czechoslovakia made recumbent bikes!!! Your post is the first I had heard of it. So my guess the reason you are not getting any answers is because I don't think anyone has ever bought a bent from there.

    :sorry:

If you do buy one, let us know how it turned out so others can benefit from your experience.

    :goodluck:

    Hi Thomas,

I went and took a look at the web page, WOW!!! Very gorgeous bike. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to view much at this point. Did the bike look as good in person as it does in pictures?

The web pag that Thomas gave ( www.frontbike.cz ) shows a bike that is simply marked "Frontbike" and "One". It's quite. An eye catching bike, but there isn't much info on it.

I just ordered a frame in white color, with the USS stearing and alloy seat for £ 325 including transport, agreement with the company was absolutely fine, the payment was via PayPal, now I probably have to wait 4 weeks. Hopefully everything will be OK. I'll let you know.

Hi, my first post and my first venture into the world of recumbents is a sorry tale I'm afraid.
I made a few enquiries about this bike, particularly the steering system and then decided to take the plunge.
After 5 weeks, nothing. I wrote and he said it was in painting. I gave it another week and then he said it was dispatched. Unfortunately he had no tracking number so I was left in the lurch.
10 weeks and no bike. eBay will not now cover the purchase as its outwith their 45day period. I can't even leave negative feedback because its now over 60days.
The guy doesn't respond but other buyers have reported that he is still operating. All the contact details have been removed from his website and it is now just a homepage.
£579 out of pocket, no bike and having to resort to VISA fraud department to hopefully retrieve the money.
I had a winter of training planned and a big charity event to do next spring (Lejog). All in vain.
It could be an elaborate scam, or the bike might turn up eventually - I'll never know until it happens. The seller might have financial problems? Because of this I now have financial problems - I need to get a bike ASAP.
    Cheers,
    Derek.

Breakthrough - the guy got back to me after I found out his personal email. It appears his business partner cleared him out while he was in hospital and has disappeared with equipment and funds.
He's promised to sort it out but it's going to take time.
I'll update if there is any news.

    Derek,
Thanxx for the update. :sad9: to hear his own business partner relieved him of the equipment & funds. While not quick, hopefully things will work out for the best and you'll end up with a nice bike.

Hello all.. Following on from Wheelsmiths post, I have the same story. I wanted a recumbent and after a few e-mails to Tomas at Frontbike, I ordered one on November 27th. I was told that delivery would be 4-5 weeks, which is about now. I also noticed the website had gone down and started to panic! Rightly so by the looks of things. I've sent four emails now, without a response. Could someone possibly p.m me his personal e-mail address.

    Many thanks

    In hope

I noticed that when I checked out, there were 4 bikes "available" at the time so there may be a few others out there with the same problem.
I hope Tomas has the cash and equipment to fulfil the orders - he has the makings of an excellent bike there and I think when he's back in business they will sell well.
