Yep folks, I have thought a lot about it and it's time for the Dragon to find a new home. Other than BikeVa last year I put almost all of my miles on the Venom. Also, there are several new trike designs I have my eyes on including Bills leaning trike.

So, she is a 2010 frame with Spinergy Stealth PBO wheels and Rotorcranks triple 26/39/55. $4000 and I will pay shipping within ConUS. I will throw in a 30t granny for the Rotors and a Corima rear disc tubular wheel that is almost obscenely light (I will add a tire to two as well)

Below is the link to some recent pictures.
    Thanks for looking.

    I have traded the Dragon

I played at selling the Sea Dragon but didn't want to give such a fine steed away. Then I saw a trike that I have lusted after for a long time. A Windcheetah Hypersport and the seller mentioned wanting a faster highracer.

So I contacted him and told him that I had one of the fastest highracers and was looking to trade. He was agreeable and the deed is done. Tomorrow I take her to the shop for the last time to be cleaned polished and shipped to,her new owner while I wait for the arrival of the WC.

It's going to be interesting. I have always felt that I climb hills better by pulling on the handlebars and engaging my core. The WC with its joy stick steering doesn't seem amenable to such antics....you know how proper the
British are about such things :wink9: I can't wait to start the testing.

Good luck Ward. I was sort of cringing when you mentioned possibly selling it. Now that you have, I'm almost crying.... I know it surely would be difficult giving up my CA-2.

btw, I'll be seeing Dana in just 4 weeks now. Looking forward to that.

I'm guessing that you are crewing RAAM again? Way to go! Tell Dana that I am now the owner of Windcheetah Hypersport #840. He had that in his shop for a while. Part of me is really going to miss the Dragon. I have had lots of fun with it but I want more of a workout. She is so fast that I can cheat and not push myself that hard. Now on a trike, there is no cheating.

The extra wind and road resistance makes you work more for less. I really like the idea of the passive suspension on the Windcheetah as well. My Venom is harder on my body than the Dragon.

    Have fun at RAAM

    Congratulations!

    (I guess....)

In my opinion, the only long-term advantage
of your Windcheetah is its' low-speed stability,
which is ideal for long, intense workouts.
In other words, you can look forward to flirting with complete
muscle fatigue, without toppling over onto the ground.

Now that your speedy carbon Dragon is gone,
I can't help asking you if you'd considered using
a parachute -or other drag-inducing device-
    for Dragon training rides?

My fertile brain has come up with many speed-brake
    designs, over the years.

    My favourite workout drag-chute?
    Baggy shorts.
    Drawbacks?
-Insect intrusion. Hey, that's not normally a problem...
and the possibility of something flying up 'there' keeps hold on my attention!
-Holds my speed down and therefore frustrates me.
The, 'Greyhound brain' still craves speed, so I work harder.
    On the plus side?
-Cheap. Gotta love cheap (I do) and baggy shorts are lots cheaper
    than, say, a Windcheetah.

    ---

    Sorry for your loss;
    happy for your new ride!

Here's hoping that you're very happy with your new ride, for a
    very long, long time.

    Seriously,
    congratulations!

It was an even trade for the Dragon. Making workouts harder on the dragon...I would ride doing one leg drills for miles while riding with my DF friends. I am also over the highracer stickbike. I have had two different brands and and frames made of steel, aluminum, carbon and titanium. But I get bored bad and love trying new things.

The Windcheetah with its joystick steering intrigues me and at the same time questions a basic premise of mine. I feel that speed can be increased on a recumbent by recruiting your core and upper body by pulling on the handlebars.
Now, obviously I'm not going to be able to do that with the WC. So,you might look at this like an experiment. I imagine that the WC will move on to another good home one day, just as the many others I have owned have.

I miss them all a bit, and I'm sure I will miss the Dragon more than the others...but the lure of what's out there keeps pulling me. That and my wife won't let me keep too many.

Yes, Ward, good reasons all... not that it should matter to me!
    ----

    Have you considered Cruzbike?
    You know, moving bottom-bracket?

Those bikes engage your core muscles,
in a way very similar to D.F. bikes.

For example, I can sit-and-spin, just like on a D.F. bike.
Or, I can bridge (unload the buttocks), just like standing on the pedals
    on a D.F. bike.
Or, I can do all the above while engaging my core muscles by
pushing/pulling on the handlebars, just like sprinting on a D.F. bike.
And, after a lot of practice, I can just sit and spin for miles without any input
from my arms... just like a D.F. bike.

Like a D.F. bike, the drivetrain and transmission is, well, like a D.F.s'.
So, there's no flex under power.
My bike outclimbs me (of course) and outclimbs the local
Bacchetta corsa... I've outclimbed a RANS Rocket, a L.W.B. recumbent
I did not recognise and a recumbent trike.
About 2/3 of the local D.F. riders pass me uphill; that means that I
    pass 1/3 of 'em uphill.

You might not like MBB: it's a Challenge....

Trust me, the Silvio or the Vendetta are both in my sights. If I had found someone looking to trade I probably would have. I think your climbing has a lot to do with the engine. I had a Corsa and it climbed pretty well, but nothing like the Dragon.

I would sure like to ride with you one day, maybe even talk you into letting me take that MBB for a spin.

Right on Ward. And you probably know that Dana is one of the racers for Team Sarcoma.

    Sure.

But be sure to bring your favourite pedals and shoes:
my pedals are modified to fit my leg-length and as a
result, I guarantee you that you would not like to use them!
I do have some cheap plastic platform pedals on hand (modified with homemade, "Power Straps"):
the plastic pedals came stock with my Sofrider.

My bike also retains the stock adjustable boom.
    So far!
    - I plan to replace it with a custom-length (homebuilt)
    super-stiff, super-light, non-adjustable composite boom.
Anyway, the bike will easily adapt to your X-seam.

My bike is my transportation, so, if you're (not just Ward)
in the neighbourhood of Hixson, TN., then feel free to stop by.
In other words, if you're more than 30 miles away from where
    I live?
I am probably not going there!

    ---

The engine is everything, for sure.
(But a good platform, a good bike, helps.)

The local Bachetta Corsa has a seat covered in thick foam
and the seat is highly reclined.
When I pass this bike going uphill, the rider is visibly both sliding
up and down in his seat, in time with his pedaling cadence
and is visibly smooshing the seat-foam flatter, again in time
    with his pedaling cadence.

On the other hand, when the local Bachetta Corsa passes me
going downhill, I need to pedal like crazy to keep him in sight:
    he's coasting!

On the local flat road, I eventually lose the Bachetta... but that's the
    difference in, "engines".

On any flat or downhill, the Corsa is faster than my hot-rodded dirt bike!

    Hi,

Wondering how tall you are? How many miles on the bike? Racing or recreational? and endurance or shorter events??

    Thanks,
    Anthony
