A CIBER employee from the Netherlands is riding a velomobile, a recumbent bicycle covered by a protective, aerodynamic shell, 3125 miles to benefit charities in the US and Netherlands that serve pediatric cancer patients.

Some might consider the velomobile – a recumbent bicycle covered by a protective, aerodynamic shell – to be a practical innovation. It's only fitting then that CIBER, Inc., an IT consulting company known for practical innovation, is sponsoring its Netherlands-based employee Machiel Spruit in raising funds for pediatric cancer patients by riding a velomobile across the Continental United States.

Spruit's undertaking is part of Roll Over America, an organized ride that will test the endurance of more than 50 cyclists pedaling velomobiles for some 3,125 miles between Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C. The ride starts Thursday, July 28 and, if all goes as planned, will reach its final destination on August 24.
