I like 80mm mirrors. Both Sides. Maybe it's my age and how much riding I do on the streets of Portland.

    Here's what I'm doing:
    -TerraCycle 7/8"TerraCycle Y-Clamp with a 6mm threaded hole
    -Thorlabs AE8E6M 6mm to 8-32 thread insert
    -Mirrycle Mirror

And if it needs to be a little longer. Mirrycle makes an extension kit.

Great tip, as I like 'beefy' accessories. I can't imagine these vibrating around very much!

Yes, my rear view mirror mount is made of plastic. This looks much stronger.

I make my own mounts from surplus bike stuff I have in my parts drawer. I use either part of a Minoura mount for a bottle cage or a sawed-off bar end.

If you didn't have extra parts or mirrors, wouldn't a mirror that was made to attach to the handlebar work just as well?

Instead of a separate mount and clamping solution, i use the following 80 mm mirror (From Amazon -- sorry i am too new here and can't post links quite yet)
kemimoto Bike Mirrors Scooter Mirror Handlebar Mirror 360° Adjustable Handlebar Mount Long Extension Acrylic Convex Mirror Universal for Electric bike E-bike Road Bike Mountain Electric Bicycle

If you search on Amazon you can easily find them. I cannot yet asses their their long term robustness, but they do work quite well in my initial install for road use. I dont know if these are suitable for rough terrain, likely not. You can install them on either the left or right side.
