2021 Smoky Mountain Recumbent Rally

Well, now it is that time of year again. It's Recumbent Rally time in Tennessee! I wasn't sure about the attendance last year due to the Corona and since we had to move it to September but I was very surprised at the number who did attend. It was just as good a previous years. Lots of new faces and several regulars. So now, it will be in May again and rules will be the same unless other breaking news comes through. Masks on in all indoor events and masks off outdoors. Still, please try to adhere to a 6ft distance etc. basically use common sense and everything will be fine.

There will be some change to the rally this year so please check back frequently for information and announcements. T-Shirt Design is underway and registration will open in mid March. The "Miata" group will also be in the hotel in May, so if you want a room I would suggest reserving it now. More news to come later, but for now:

Ok, the T-Shirt design is almost ready. Will have it ready to show in a few days. I haven't seen any interest yet, so I hope its just that everyone is just quiet. If there is anyone out there who is planning on coming, give a shout out and let me know. Thanks.

Well, even though I haven't gotten the menu down yet, some folks are already registering. Registration is open if anyone wants to sign up. I am working on the menu. Hopefully will have it down by the weekend along with the ride schedules.

 

More data...There will more or less be 2-3 speakers at the Rally this year. BUT, its an informal round table discussion to get the take on the health of the recumbent industry in today's time. Guest speakers will be two(2) manufacturers, and (1) bike shop owner. I've attached the agenda for the rally. It is tentative and subject to possible changes.

Also, I'm still working on the menu. Will post/let everyone know as soon as I can get it solidified.

 

OH someone else asked me about the numbers, right now I currently have 40± people signed up. I don't know specifically how many are riders and how many are just dinner only folks. I'll know more about that later once I go through the registrations.

*In order to get a T-shirt/goodie bag. MUST register before April 30. You can still register after the 30th for the rally but you aren't guaranteed a shirt/bag.

Lunch will be different this year. We're having lunch brought in from Calhouns in Maryville.

Dinner will be catered from "Mama Mia" Italian restaurant. These guys are LEGIT! The real deal etc. A "Mama" and her two sons. They're greek and yet have worked in an Italian restaurant in Manhattan for 25+ years. I've had their food and its awesome! So the dinner is as follows:

Old Walland Highway, aka River Road has had a landslide. The county has blocked the road and the highway is torn up. So the ride on that day has been abbreviated.
