I have found my new favorite recumbent . . . Lightning Tailwind. I now have 2, one is completely original, cleaned, tuned and ridable. My second is completely stripped and the frame is out for powder coating. I am also upgrading the rear cassette to a 9 speed, rear and front derailleurs to Deore, changing to trigger shifters and need to get the hubs redone when it gets reassembled.

This Lightning Tailwind is by Lightning Cycles out of Swanton, OHIO . . . . not Lightning Cycle Dynamics out of CA. Although I love my P-38 too.

Wow, no pretensions of being aero with your hands that wide! Must give a smooth ride, though.

I got my frame back!!! Now for the slow process of reassembly. I haven't seen one in anything but blue.

    This Tailwind is interesting.
    1. Is the steering mechanism under the sea on bearings?
    2. How adjustable is the seat for X--seam range?
    3. What are the wheel sizes, 20"/451 and 27"/630?

I had a DeFelice for many years - this looks very similar in configuration. That was a terrific, comfortable touring bike and I bet this one is as well. What size is the front wheel - it looks larger than a 451mm...
