Hi all. I finally found an elusive counterpoint presto SE63! There are only a handful known to still exist! What a find! It is 100% original/stock with less than 200 miles on it and us in awesome condition. I have read every review on it and the only one that was honest and correct was from Travis pebble I believe.

It was one of the very last ones made in 1995 and is a True collectors item. It's solid and extremely well built!

I am trying to decide if I should completely or partially upgrade it or not. I had a long talk with the fellow from Rhode Island who had his restored one on eBay for $2,500.00.
So far I have put about 267 miles on it since I got it about three weeks ago! I have owned 34 recumbents including 22trikes and four velo mobiles. This has the most comfortable seat of any bent ever made I am sure of it! It's insane! It has a huge rubber donut between the seat and frame which makes the suspension awesome!
It has the first tilt forward steering stem and hamster bars. So far I am going to replace the old rst 150 front suspension fork with a new Volae aluminum fork so I can put a disc brake on the front. It Hase awesome wheels so I am re-building the front wheel with a Velocity disc hub and 36 new sapiam spokes. I am putting a new headset, TerraCycle glide flex stem, Terracycle handlebar mast, RANS bars etc.
I am installing a special adaptor that bolts through the hole in the frame that holds a caliper brake in the back and bolts onto the frame with special clamps so I can put on a side pull brake on the rear.
The drivetrain is actually perfect! It's similar to my 95 angle tech altitude which is very similar to this bike.
It's all Shimano XT and has the sacs three speed internal hub and shifter paired to a 7x3 drivetrain for 63 gears. I have had the new SRAM Dual Drive on my scorpion fs26 and catriike annihilator and it's way, way better and smoother. It's also easier to adjust and remove the rear wheel

I am replacing all the cables and believe it or not, I am leaving the big orange delrin idler wheel setup. It works perfectly and is dead silent! I have Terracycle elite titanium idlers on my bachetta carbon aero and volae expedition pro and this is actually quieter!
I will add a fevobike spandex wheel cover on the rear wheel and install my Terracycle tail sock. Add a set of the new Schwalbe Durano plus tires in the 406 size and I am ready to run from the cops again!

It even has a huge seat bag made specifically for this bike by "SewWhat"! Oh yea, my speed play light action pedals (Best recumbent pedal on the market) round off what is going yo be a super cool build!

Any other suggestions would be great! It has dual 406 wheels:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

:congrats: on your fine, find there Gary! It sounds like a beauty. If you have a chance, add a snapshot or two of it to the thread. And I certainly agree with leaving the silent idlers in place as long as you can. :cool9:

    Fast as an F-40?t

I have since done all the upgrades I mentioned in my first post and the bike is insanely fast. When I first got it I still had my 30th anniversary F-40. I put the counterpoint up against it to compare the seating position etc because I know they feel identical. Sure enough, both bikes had the same seat height, seat angle and Bottom Bracket position. Literally within 1/8"!. After being blown off the road four times from a slight change in wind direction in my F-40 I decided to remove the main cover and just leave on the nose one and then I stalked my Terracycle tailsock. I then added a windwrap XT (The smaller one from Terracycke - tinted if course♨️) and took her out to tear it up!according to my garmin GPS, my overall speed over the exact same rude I did on my fully faired F-40 was 1.6 mph slower! Compared to my F-40 with just the nose cone and tailsock, guess what-0.2 mph faster! All that and I was able to hit 61.46 mph on the same downhill I hit 68 mph on my old Bluevelo Strada Velomobile and 65 mph on my fully faired F-40. Weighing in at about six pounds lighter than the fully faired F-40 and with a much broader gear range, I actually prefer the counterpoint over the F-40! Unfortunately since I posted here last year, I have had hip replacement surgery. I can no longer move my left hip outwards to swing my leg down to put my feet on the ground at a stop.
This has forced me to switch entirely to trikes (Another thread!) so now it just sits! Anyone want to buy her and she's yours! I will ship it anywhere in the lower 48 via ship bikes for around 100 bucks! Anyway it won't break my heart to keep her do it's no big deal. After being ripped off by the leader of the other big recumbent website I am sticking to this one!!

    Gary,

I know you posted in 2014 but I just find this thread. I have a counterpoint presto SE with a folding front boom. I wonder if you would post a photo of the rear shock absorbing elastomer. I need to replace mine which is now missing. Also, if you would measure the inner dimension of the diameter of the bolt hole, that would be terrific.

    Thanks,
    Dan
