Blazing sunshine

Ok, I want to know something, am I crazy or did it get really WARM today? I actually had to take my jacket off while I was outside. It was such a beautiful day I certainly hope that many of you got a chance to get out and ride. I rode but it was on the stationary bike once again...and looking at the food network is starting to get old. I guess I am getting fidgety. I need to get out and do something besides watch the food network.

Re: Blazing sunshine

Hey I looked at my thermometer when I went riding at 2 PM on Monday and it said 62 degrees!!! I couldn't believe it. I left my thermo top off and just wore a long sleeve bicycle jersey and a wind breaker. After 5 minutes the wind breaker came off.

What a great day to ride. Rode Gracie (my new bent. I call her Gracie because the upside down U shaped handlebars look like my dogs ears.) Had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed my 18 mile ride. Just a perfect day.

I feel like I just came out of hibernation!!!! In 3 weeks I will be in Florida riding for a solid week!!!! It was in the mid 60s there too!

Time to ride folks. Dust of your bents and start cranking pedals!!!

Well Jon you sound like a happy camper now that you have got back to riding. I rode my stationary bike once again and did pretty good for sitting still haha. I need to get out on a bike OUTSIDE instead of inside. I did get out and go for a really nice walk. I had my jacket on but it was NOT long before I had to come out of it. Too bad it is clouding up right now though. I guess we're going to get a little rain.

Re: Blazing sunshine

And I got in a whopping 12.5 miles for my first ride of the year. I did have to stop and put some toe warmers in my shoes but other than that was plenty warm.

It was funny though. My wife had to take the car so I put the bike in my wood hauling trailer and pulled it with the atv for 1 1/4 miles or a little more. Parked it in a friends yard and went for a ride. I was not strong nor fast but still felt good for this year's first ride. Now we are looking at rain for the next 5 days... But maybe it will get rid of some more snow.

Re: Blazing sunshine

Okay, I now have cycle envy. All you people getting warm weather.

Granted, here, the past two days have been gorgeous. Clear skies, almost 40 degrees. The snow is melting fairly quickly, but it's still taking time. The slabs of ice that many of the roads I cycle on are turning into a slushy mess. We have another day below freezing with chance of snow coming up, but I'm still hopeful that in the next week or so, I can get out and ride.

I got all the chain and chainring things settled. My trike hums now instead of clacks. It took me a few days because my knees and back were threatening to walk out on me for sitting hunched on the floor to do the work.

Oh! And we have a vacation planned!! Up in the northern reaches of Sweden up against the Norwegain border is a prime fishing spot my husband has been itching to try. Conveniently, it sits right on the Sverigeleden!! Depending on how badly the mountains kick my butt, I'll be able to explore gorgeous mountain scenery both Swedish and Norwegian! Maybe even a few of the fjords in Norway! Loke and I will run around while my husband tries to trick trout into biting bits of feather and yarn. I have plenty of time to try and get into shape for it since it's not until 11-18th of August.

I have photos of a road trip we took years ago. We drove up to the northern part of Sweden so I could say I've been above the artic circle (though we were a bit late for a true midnight sun). On the way back home, we took a sharp detour west to go to one of the Norwegian fjords and back home. A brutal 20 hours of straight driving but SOOOO worth it!

PM me your e-mail and I'll send you an invite to my album. Lots of mountains, waterfalls, streams, reindeer, etc.
