Soak up the Sun Ride Sunday

I am taking a soak up the sun and dust off the bicycle ride . This will be a slow ride just to enjoy nice weather.
Day Sunday
Time 2:30pm
place: Volunteer Landing Park
See map for parking.
http://www.ci.knoxville.tn.us/parks/volunteer.asp

Plan to ride the greenway heading west then connecting with third creek greenway to Sequoyah Hills . Ride around there and then back.

It is suppose to be close to 60 but probably still need a few layers.
I plan to ride a couple of hours so bring water.

If you want me to look for you and update you on time changes or other unforseen events, please RSVP. Otherwise just show up at Volunteer landing and look for me with bright yellow jacket on a vision understeering recumbent.

Perhaps we can eat at Calhouns afterwords.

I have work to do Sunday, but this sounds tempting. I want to try out this new seat on my bike anyway. Will think seriously about changing my schedule.

Will be glad to see you if you can make it. If not when the weather is good above 55 I will be going on more rides.

You know we have a weekly ride on Sunday mornings at 8:30 once the weather is warm. We sometimes have as many as 8 people, most on recumbents.

Yes, I know. I keep thinking I am going to come but has not happened yet.
I am not much of a morning person so it is hard for me to get up and going early. I will make it some this coming year.
Unfortunately most bike rides start bright and early.
Mary Lous cruise is nice too but in Oak Ridge which is the wrong direction to go for the weekend, as I go that way every day of the work week.

Last year I just took off out of my drive way and rode around South Knoxville a lot. Only had one bad situation with dogs. Sunday morning is a very good time to ride around here too. One of these days I would like to start at my house and wind my way the back way up towards where you are. I was looking at routes last year but I would have to drive it to make sure the traffic was not insane and count how many loose dogs are about .

I want to plan several rides this year especially to places like Virginia Creeper and the New River gorge bike trail. Set up some easy going camping trips.

Re: Soak up the Sun Ride Sunday

We are up for that. We will be kayak or bike camping 2 out of 4 weekends this year. We are going to be trying out some of the long bike trails in the US this year too. There is a new website that is devoted to long car free trails in the US and Canada. I did not realize there were so many. There are two up east that are paved and you can connect them with just a few miles of regular road riding. Total: 384 miles.

Wow.

Re: Soak up the Sun Ride Sunday

Is it the Rails to trails conservancy that you are talking about or something else. Please send me the link.
I do a little kayaking myself. I have a friend that does a lot of lake , sea and flat water kayaking. I think she belongs to Chota and they have a pretty good flat water contingent. They have been very active in the last several years probably mostly because of Karen.
Once or twice a year I go to the Hiawassee and do some camping/ kayaking there.

Might do that it looks interesting though I am not sure I can make the distance at this point.

On another note. i am still taking the ride this afternoon at 2:30.
A friend is going to show up so the ride is on.
Hopefully the sun comes out a little stronger.

Have a good Sunday!
