Screamin, I appreciate your interest in staying connected to your wife! I did reply to your PM. My connecting system has exceeded expectations. A great surprise was that over time, Cindy became a stronger rider and her speed increased as well. Now the connector still gets used, but less than it did initially. Last fall, we rode the Walker,Minnesota TOT (trikes only tour, or trikes optional tour to some) Cindy rode 58 miles along side me stoke for stroke! The connector/apparatus I came up with will work best for Catrike expeditions. one could adapt it to other trikes but that would take some adjustment in the design. I am not a professional welder......more of a hobbyist. These kinds of projects, because they are low volume and usually prototypes, take more time and are therefore more expensive if a person was to have one built. Ashley, from Utah Trikes, was working on connectors at one time and if there was a market, they'd probably be in the best position to build them. But costly.

Thanks, Tom. I have talked to Ashley on a couple of occasions about other topics. Yes, they are typically "expensive". Haven't asked this particular question. I have a Catrike Road (2009) with the Utah Trikes wheel extension. I have a 700c wheel on it now. Changing to a 26" inch is easy. I have a 26" wheel with a geared electric motor (new) that I plan to put on the (now 26") Road. Wife has a Trail. Will make a "powered" tandem !
Nice that your connector became a very effective "trainer".
    Thanks for your response. Michael
(Haven't found your PM response, yet...but I'm rather unlearned about these "forum" things...!).

Both our expeditions have the Utah trike wheel extenders and have 29ers on the rear. Cindy's has a Alfine 8 hub and I have the N360. Both have Schlumpf HS drives. I'll se if my response (PM) went through.

Just asked Utah Trikes about connectors. They don't do them any more...

I Think any machinist/welding shop could build one. Showing them my final pics and leaving your trikes with them for a day or two may be all it takes. I asked a friend, who owns a machinist shop, what it would take to produce them and he said 1000 to 1200 for the first few, until they could be Templated, or forms built to expedite the process. It could be more, probably not less. It is good that you have the pre suspension Road. The rear supports look very similiar to my expedition and the front cross arms on your wife's trail look similiar to the fron of the expedition, but I have never measure them. I used the wheel base extenders from Utah trike on the lead trike for vertical support of the "tow bar" on the lead trike. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much. I will research it with a shop(s) around here. I had noticed the tow bar was attached to the wheel extender. I also may tinker with the idea in my basement. I can drill and bolt (but not weld!). Perhaps a less elegant version than yours...heh. Yes, your answers have helped.
We were at the Smokey Mtn Rally last year. Very nice event. Not sure if we'll make it this year.
