Greenspeed GTO

Hi! I’m looking for some information regarding the Greenspeed GTO. I’m thinking about a trike and found a Greenspeed GTO, 24 spd, with electric hub drive for $1,800. It also has the quick disconnects to be able to pack the bike for travel. I’m thinking it’s a good deal, but know there are a lot of experienced folks out there. So, if it fits, is this a good deal? What do you know about the trike itself for reliability?

I’m interested in the electric drive only to see if I could get my wife to ride with me.

Can't say much about the GTO since I've never ridden one. I have ridden the folding Greenspeeds and their tandem and they have all been exceptional trikes.

The GTO is Greenspeed's flagship and sells new for $4,000 base price.

If the hub motor is the same one Greenspeed puts on their trikes it is a BionX. We have the Bionx 350W, 36 V Li-Ion system. It cost $1,500 new. The electric assist system is on my wife's trike so we can ride together, works pretty well. Age and the number of times the battery has been recharged are a factor. If the battery needs to be replaced it can get expensive. A 36V Li-Ion battery from Bionx cost $750.

So the cost of a new GTO with electric assist hub motor would be around $5,500 plus tax. $1,800 sounds like a good deal if both the trike and electric assist system are in good shape.

 

For sure, that's a nice deal. I Rode with Brent (He designed the Logo here).
He has two of them. The green one he got for his wife,
I was wanting, but he got it out of Atlanta on Craigslist.
Anyway, the only problem he mentioned was keeping
the coupling tight. Call Jerome at Greenspeed USA
for the expert word on it. He has always been super
helpful every time I call.

Oh, BTW, be careful, Brent rolled his on the first
ride. He didn't have his helmet, but didn't get too
hurt.
