    bar upgrade

I ordered a RANS B-29 from the Rans and it came in today. This is an 18 inch bar that cost me $40. I turned it around and it works perfectly and gives me plenty of leg room. I have not added the Flip it yet but may in the future. I also got these nice mirrors in from Calhoun Cycles. They work like a charm. I drop the bar ends down a bit but they are still not 90 deg.

I'm looking forward to this too. I bought a 1995 V-Rex a few weeks ago and just ordered a b39 bar from RANs (waiting patiently for delivery next week).

The hamster bars just don't do it for me. They actually cause a sideways bend in my wrist that ends up being painful on a 45 minute ride.

Well I haven't taken my bike into the LBS to have the new handlebars put on. I used the hamster bars the whole week and they worked just fine. I still like the tweener better. Guess I better get of my butt and take it in.

OK. It is not going to happen this year. Too busy and the hamster bars weren't so bad.

So if you want to see a V Rex decked out with those bars go back to response #3 on this thread.

    Sorry!

Yea! I got the B39 bars today and made my very first youtube video ever.

I think the riser stem on the bike is the original one (my V-Rex is a 1995 so no flip it) but I rotated it around the opposite direction and it seems to work well with the bars.

I am SOOOOO much happier after the swap. It's like a whole new bike - I am so much more stable now both in slow and high(ish) speeds. I'm really glad I found this thread :) Thanks everyone!

Ok, now I have a question: Was the camera on a tripod? And assuming so, how did you get it to follow you around the parking lot there? If there was no 2nd person involved, I'm real curious about that feat!

Not a tripod, a motion controlled biped ;) My Fiance was holding my cellphone.

Well I must admit, that's much :cool9:'er than an automated tripod. :wink9:

I knew you would like them. I have a V Rex with old and new handlebars. I like the new ones better also. I agree, the bent seems much less twitchy with the tweener bars. But I think the difference is you can correct your steering so much faster, it just seems more stable.

    Enjoyed your video. Post more!

BTW - I saw that big GRIN on your face while you were riding!! Recumbents do that to people. You looked like a pro. Keep it up!!!

yea, my recumbent is a blast :)

Along the lines of the thread, I slanted my bars down to around 75 degrees as opposed to 90. If they were all the way down at 90 I think I would have ended up with thigh interference. As they are now I can pretty much turn them as far as I'd like.
