ICE Adventure HD, Sturmey-Archer drum brakes.

When axle bolt is tightened and brake applied, something seems to jam and the brake stays applied even though lever pressure is zero.

Rotating the wheel a few inches backward frees it up.

Does not happen when axle bolt is not tightened.

Visual inspection of shoes and wheel braking surface reveals nothing.

    Can anybody shed some light?

I can't shed any light on the fix, however here are several Youtube Videos about such. :idunno:

    I think it's fixed.

First fix was wiping down pads and drums with 72% rubbing alcohol, but that only lasted a few days.

The (hopefully) final fix has been to smooth a very slight edge off of the pads where they are chamfered at each end.

How did the edge get there?

    No clue.
