For sale: 2005 RANS Tailwind. This bike was only ridden a couple of months before the owner decided she preferred a trike. Upgrades include: Rans rack, fenders, CatEye Astrale computer, Shimano 105 crankset and Bottom Bracket, Sachs PC-59 chain, BMX style pedals, Terra Cycle handlebar mast and stem, Rans 3-way chopper bar, mirror, and Rans commuter seat bag. Over $1,800 invested. Will sell complete in current configuration for $1,250. This price includes the original components as well. We would also be willing to sell the bike in the stock configuration for $900. Or any combination in between with the price adjusted accordingly. The stock crankset has 62/52/42 rings providing a gear range of 26 – 112. The 105 crankset provides a gear range of 19 – 95. The 105 crankset reduces the top speed of the bike but makes it easier to climb the hills around here. Pictures are attached in the pdf file. Higher resolution pics available. Contact Mike Lundy at

    Mike,

This is a great looking and equipped bent. Hope it finds a good home.

Folks, if you don't know Mike & Laurie, they take GREAT care of their bents and put the best upgrades on them. You won't find a Tailwinds decked out as nice as this one for a loooong time.

If you are interested in a SWB (Short wheel Based) recumbent, the Tailwind is a nice ride. In fact, the very first bent I rode was a Tailwind in Florida. (Not this one.) That is what got me hooked on bents.

    Jon,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. A point though, the Tailwind isn't a short wheel base (SWB). Rans lists it as a long wheel base (LWB). However, is really a medium wheel base (MWB) also sometimes called a compact long wheel base (CLWB). Technically,
it the shortest wheelbase than can be called a LWB or another way of looking at it is it's the longest wheelbase that can be called a CLWB.

The Tailwind is a mild manered recumbent that is fairly easy to handle even for a newbie in it's stock configuration. The 3-Way chopper bars and Terra Cycle mast make it even easier to handle and more comfortable.

    Jon,

By the way, for some strange reason Rans discontinued the Tailwind for 2007. Go figgure.
