I need to secure a canopy to the rear of a Kent Cavalier recumbent trike. As of yet I am stymied. Any ideas are appreciated.

First, take a look at these threads: Need help with ideas building a Trike canopy & Trike Top and see if any ideas come to mind.

Secondly, is this a canopy you've purchased -or- one you've built yourself? If it uses fiberglass poles going over your head and towards the front of the trike, you may be able to use a pair of HILLMAN Clamps to affix them to the rear of your trike. Even if there are no holes for such, just by a pair of say 1/2' - 5/8" clamps to go around the frame tubing of your trike and then use a pair of 1/4" clamps to hole the fiberglass poles in place.

    HILLMAN 1/4" ZINC CLAMPS

Lowes carries them, under part number 881292 for the 1/4" size. As shown in the other thread I mentioned above, most people pull the poles downward towards the front of the trike in tension and affix them with a bungie, or cords onto the front boom.

You can also search for the word 'canopy' within the many threads to turn up several other interesting discussions about such.

If none of that helps, post a picture or a LINK to your canopy so I can better see how it's constructed. :mmm:

Thank you. The clamps are useful. However, I’ll need a compression plumbing fitting also? I’ve watched a you tube video on how to do it. Although I’m unable to obtain a parts list.

What Tadpole did on his trike, was to manufacturer his own wooden block that sandwiched onto his trike frame and then ran the fiberglass poles through it going up towards the front of the trike.

This is probably the best pic of that wooden block on the back of his trike...

Good deal, I suppose you're off to the wood shop to craft you something then . When you get something fabricated that works, post a pic so others can see when they come along with similar inquiries. :camera:
