My wife’s bike is not an off-the-shelf model but was custom built in 2007. The passenger seat frame is permanently to the bike frame. There are 24 gears (8x3). The tricycle was ridden around the streets of Dayton WA until 2012 when my wife stopped using it for medical reasons. Since then, it has been stored indoors. It appears to be in great condition although the passenger seat has a tear that was fixed with tape. (see pic)
