Oftentimes, the price is based on the seller's motivation to sell than the condition of the bike. Did the bike belong to an ex-?, Did someone buy it to try it and not like it?, Has someone collected more recumbent bikes than they need, or can store? etc.

It's a hit-and-miss proposition, so just keep you nose to the want-ads and check each one out.

If you've not turned one up yet, check out the thread entitled " What Recumbents are FOR SALE on the net?" I'm still amazed at how many people looking for used bike overlook this thread. :yikes:

With less than 3min of effort, I turned up:

Rans V Rex. Unparalleled versatility, great comfort, timeless design. Lustrous deep purple cromoly frame, 26"/20" wheels, flip-it handlebar stem, new cables, spare parts, always pampered. Optional commuter bag yellow (with Platypus hydration system) fits on seat back. $1600 new, $650 and it's yours.

WoW!!! I would never dream of letting my V-Rex go for that kind of money  (not that it's for sale anyway).

At one time I tried to sell the V-Rex (shortly after getting my Ti-Rush) but even then I wouldn't have taken less than $1,000 for it. Now I'm very glad it didn't sell. Even with the fancy Ti-Rush I still love the V-Rex (and I've had it since it was new in '99).
