I just started the voyage to recumbent last spring. I found very few 2 wheel versions. The ones i found we not for old geezer first time riders. I went trike and am very happy with it. Not fast, hills are hard, and they are invisible to cars. I have a flag and lights to make me more visible. I also found that a third party leveler added a couple MPH to my speed. Now I need to figure out how to transport it. Even folded its not going to fit in my Honda Civic! I'M thinking some kind of trailer, but would love to hear some ideas on transport

Coupe or hatchback. I have know people to mount trikes on rails on top of hatchbacks. Another option is a trailer hitch and a trike specific hitch carrier.

With my back Im not even going to try to lift it up on the roof. Ive seen the hitch mounted bike racks but none that would carry a trike. Know of any brands?

Take a look these threads: How to Carry a Trike on a Car & Recumbent Hitch Racks, in particular the last posts # 6, 7, & 11 in that last thread.

I took a standard (i.e. cheap) Cargo Carrier and modified it similar to the thread mentioned above. At the time, I was hauling a RANS Force 5 -and- a Catrike Road on it together. The only picture I still have of it is seen below.:embarrassed9: Sadly, it was totaled along with CaTrikeGirl's car when she was hit head-on by a drink driver, just after we'd finished a ride up at Loudon with some of the other ROCKET Riders.

Basically, I bolted on a pair of 2x4's beneath the rack. One to help hold a vertical 4x4, upon which I mounted a bicycle front axle mount atop of it to hold my Force 5. Meanwhile, the 2nd 2x4 beneath the cargo rack hellped to hold the outermost front right wheel of the Catrike Road. When loaded, the rear of the Catrike would be on the far-side of the cargo holder, as was my Force 5 as well. Thus the end closer in the pic below, held the front left wheel of the Catrike 'inside' the cargo holder, while the front right wheel sat 'outside' the actual cargo holder and was nestled into a V-bracket off of a old cheap bike rack. The front fork of my Force 5 attached to the vertical 4x4 you see in the picture via the black fork-mount in the picture, and meanwhile the backwheel of my Force 5 sat right next to the rearwheel of the Catrike.

Anyway, we used the setup for several years and it always served us very well. :heelclick:

Since you don't have a lot of options with a Honda Civic, if you were to add a small receiver hitch (i.e. 1-1/4") it would allow you to use a cargo carrier for other things besides just carrying your trike around.

Late to this particular party, but... here's my really awesome Burley Canto 26 highboy racer.
It's a particularly strong configuration, with a few caveats - for me totally worth it. Burley Canto F22v2.jpg
