Snapshot of my newly completed balsa core/'glass/epoxy composite seat pan.
It's lighter than stock, fits me perfectly, it is lower than stock, more aerodynamic than stock, won't corrode
like the aluminum pan and, I made it.

    Win!

The old Vendetta 1.5 is resting on a heavy-duty work stand I built.
It's made from scraps of 2x4 and 1/2" plywood.

    And here it is, installed.
The yellowish cured resin works well with the yellow paint,
and the integrated neck rest fits me well.

By the way, I've used this piece of inflated inner tube as my neck rest cushion
    for a few riding seasons.
It really does do a great job of isolating my head from road vibrations.
See, I need glasses to see and it's difficult to see through vibrating glasses.

Also, I like this thin pad under my butt better than I like the stock seat cushion,
so that's why it's blue and thin rather than black and thick.

    I'm very pleased.
Very pleased that this seat works and very pleased that I'm done working on it:
    epoxy sucks.

Nice seat. I used a balsa wood core also for my carbon fiber seat on my low racer. Did you vacuum bag it? I am trying to get supplies for vacuum bagging in order to reduce the amount of epoxy in my future layups.

Please excuse the massive delay: life happens.

No vacuum bagging or weights or anything... I used gravity, time and experience.
The fibreglass was laid up one layer per day and any excess resin was squeegeed off before it set.
The excess semi-cured resin was scraped off before the next layer of fibreglass was laid.
This took a while, but it works fine.

My seat still looks and feels solid; still satisfied with it.
