Been looking for an inexpensive entry to "Bent Land". Recently have seen some SUN EZ Speedster SX bikes for sale for around $400; used. That seems rather inexpensive, but I know I could get a much better bike like a semi-new Burley or Used Phantom for about twice as much. I'm torn. I would appreciate any comments on the Sun bikes. I already know they are heavy, Sun admits that fact, but points out they can support a 300Lb rider. How heavy are they? Is it possible to find anything of quality for 4 bills? I eventually think I want to do some touring on this bike.

Sorry I did not see this until today. There was a guy in Albany selling a Vision R30 for $150 and a large size P-38 for $600. I'll drop him a line to see if he still has them. If I had the money I would have picked up both of them.

The Speedster is a good bike. It's a very heavy short wheelbase but rides very nice. I liked the one I rode. It will give you troubles going up hills because of its weight, but other than that a good starter SWB.

I agree with Bill 100%. I have owned 2 Suns including the Speedster. It was my first SWB. On the other hand the ride give you a good solid feel. I liked it. I swapped the trike for a Vision R-40, other wise I probably would still have the Speedster.

Hi. I recently had a Speedster AX (Aluminum) model given to me by the widow of a friend of mine. It was brand new. I've been learning to ride it and it performs wonderfully. The engine (Me) is not so hot though,

I've owned a Sun EZ-Speedster for several years ... I love it! If it is set up properly and ridden properly ... it is a delightful recumbent. Besides wt. (which I hadn't noticed), the majority of problems with them is they weren't set up properly ... Sun doesn't give any directions on setting them up ... so a lot of bicycle shops did it incorrectly ... all they had to follow was the foto on the Sun website. And the handlebar stem has to be moved back close to the body for riding ... then it's not sensitive.

Recently I installed a Golden Eagle Bike Engine (GEBE) on the rear of mine. http://www.bikeengines.com/ I speed down the road at 25-30 mph. And pedal assist in 24th gear when climbing hills.

    Viva la Speedster! :jiggy9:
